Aftermath

One day, many years later, Snow White was outside in the snow with her daughter. As they played together, she overheard the guards telling a strange tale. It was the story of an old hag who had once tried to break into the castle, claiming in her madness to be the Queen. She had come with such violence that the guards had been forced to place her into the dungeon. “She still moans and cries every day,” recounted one guard to the other, “screaming in a tired voice that she is the most beautiful in the land.”
